It's Another Sunny Day
For those of you who’ve read my writings or heard me talk about my sweet Piotrek, you’ve likely experienced some of the brilliant little phrases he comes up with. Since we’ve met, every time it rained, snowed or it was cloudy outside, Piotrek said, “It’s just another sunny day” and he really means it. His perspective is such that every day is filled with beauty and love, some days, we just have to look a little deeper within to find it.
Being a total sun seeker myself, I can resonate with his sentiment, however some days, I really want to see that sunshine! We left for Cuba from Boston on a day that clouds blanketed the sky and cold rain fell upon us. It was dismal to say the least, but as our airplane soared through the gentle storm into the clouds and finally above the clouds, there was the sun and Piotrek’s words chimed in my head.
“It’s another sunny day!”
YES! Okay, so scientifically, my beloved’s logic has some truth behind it and energetically it definitely does too. We arrived in Cuba to beautiful 90* weather with lots of humidity, and full sun. Perhaps the best purchase, we’ve ever made in Cuba (besides our dance training and some art) is our new sombrilla (umbrella) adorned with shades of blue and fairies.
After 7 days of this weather, a rainstorm came upon us in full force. Thunderstorms and heavy rain that lasted for 8 hours. In the islands, this is a big rain and in Cuba, it made everything quiet. During the daytime, the street musicians had packed their instruments, cubans and foreigners alike sought shelter in museums, shops, etc. In the evening, as we ventured out for dinner, we were alone in the streets, walking arm in arm under our sombrilla. The sounds of the rain on the cobblestones and the feel of the drops dancing upon our skin was pure romance. I felt like I was in a black and white movie, in love with every moment.
As I looked up to the thick grey cloud above, I couldn’t help but think that it was just another sunny day. A sunny day doesn’t come from what is outside of us, but how brightly we let the light within us shine!
