NADA
National Acupuncture Detoxification Association
NADA is the acupuncture detoxification protocol birthed at the Lincoln Recovery Center in the 1970’s. The NADA protocol is the placement of five small, sterilized disposable needles into specific sites on each ear. NADA auricular acupuncture is an adjunct therapy which is clinically effective, cost-efficient, drug-free and compatible cross-culturally. NADA is commonly used in community settings to treat behavioral health, addictions, PTSD and disaster relief. Studies have shown that NADA increases the success rates of counseling, education, and support groups.
Benefits Include:
Reduced cravings for alcohol and drugs, including nicotine
Minimized withdrawal symptoms
Increased relaxation, better sleep and less agitation
Relief from stress and emotional trauma
An easier connection with counseling and social interaction
Feeling at peace within oneself
I feel very fortunate that one of my teachers at ITEA, Terry Treece taught us the NADA protocol and it’s historical influence on acupuncture here in our country. In my practice, I often use NADA as a pre-cursor to individualized treatment. It really helps to release energy from the surface that can block treatment especially after a traumatic event or series of micro traumas.
I’m pleased to announce that I will be offering Recovery Acupuncture once a month at the Safe Harbor Recovery Center in Portsmouth as part of their recovery program. Our first event is Friday, 24th February at 4:30pm.
