Turning Inward, Blooming Outward
Spotting the first buds on trees, hearing the sounds of birds in the morning, smelling the Earth, tasting the Spring greens, and feeling the warmth of the sun are sensations that we delight ourselves in as spring gently evolves. In years past, I've found myself waking up to realize Spring was in full effect. I'd missed the sensory experience of "firsts" that only come once a year.
It seems to me, I was too quick to launch into outward action, rather than soaking in the joy of the "firsts" and also being present with the way the season of spring offered time and space for clarity and direction. Being present and tuned in to the season as well as one's own energy doesn't mean doing nothing, but rather taking action inwardly.
We cannot move forward with anything until we we become aware of what we desire, which means we must have clarity in knowing how we want to feel and what we want to experience. The quiet reflective time of winter lends itself to us beginning to bloom and grow with clarity, confidence and insight in Spring. It is a time for us to rid the weight of that which does not serve us. So there is naturally contrast between what was and what is.
When we force ourselves outwardly too quickly, we miss the important transitionary time. This leads to us "muddying the waters" a bit. The good news is: It's possible to stay present and let go of one part of ourselves while welcome in clarity of a new direction.
I recently fell in love with the latest BMW commercial which states:
"Sometimes you have to unfollow your old dreams, to chase new ones."
In order to really share outwardly what we want and to offer our creation to the world, we have to let go!
Here's my unfollow list:
Chasing what's already right in front of me
Not following through because I'm scared of the end result
Using my time inefficiently
Sharing something that wants to be kept sacred
Expectations for myself that I can never meet
I cannot expect this transition to occur overnight. I realize that there's work to be done, but the way I see it is that this Spring Season is a perfect opportunity for me to work with these topics and move forward gracefully toward my desires.
My desires:
Practice gratitude and presence
Follow the guidance of the universe
Be organized with allocating my time to what is truly important
Honoring the sacred
Observing the evolution of my creativity
I would love to see your "Unfollow" and "Desire" Lists for this Spring. We have the whole season to do the work on the inside that enriches the experience on the outside. Clarity, direction and confidence in our path lie within us and we have unlimited access to ourselves. It's time to tune into the sensations of our own life.
