As a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Holistic Healing Practitioner, Dr. Krystal combines a variety of techniques within sessions to maximize healing of the complete body - physically, emotionally, spiritually and intellectually.

Trigger Point Dry Needling

TDN is based on needling pathologic trigger points, facial restriction and adhesions present within the myofascial tissue. TDN is used in the treatment of neuromyofascial pain and dysfunction present in acute and chronic populations. The needles used are very small and are often unfelt as they go into the skin. Upon penetration of a trigger point and the needle, one may feel a "cramping" sensation or reproduction of their symptoms. The needle is utilized as a tool to break the spasm cycle of the trigger point and restore normal muscle function. TDN is a highly specialized technique and is only to be performed by those therapists that have had specific training. If you have "knots" or trigger points in your muscles that cause you pain, this technique provides quick and effective relief from the tension.

Meridian Balancing and Unwinding

Meridian Balancing and Unwinding is based on the concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine. These techniques were developed by Ken Koles as part of the Upledger Institute. The goal of meridian balancing and unwinding is to restore optimal balance within the meridian lines leading to increased health of the whole being. Meridians are the energy lines in our body upon which "qi", our vital life force energy flows. These meridians are connected to our internal organs. The energy flow along the meridians can be impacted by our physical, intellectual, spiritual and emotional health. Achieving balance within the meridians allows us to improve our overall health and well being.

Craniosacral Therapy

CST was developed by osteopathic physician, John Upledger. CST uses a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning the craniosacral system which is comprised of the embraces and cerebral spinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Over time, the body can develop tension which produces distortions in our craniosacral system that can lead to pain throughout the body. Therapists use manual techniques in order to relieve these tensions and allow the systems of the body to cooperatively work together to allow for a healthy body system.

SomatoEmotional Release

SER is based on the principle that the body can hold onto emotional trauma and produce or reproduce pain. SEE is used to reduce the residual effects of trauma via the craniosacral system. These effects can be dampening to different systems within the body and inhibit skeletal, myofascial, neurological, lymphatic and endocrine function. The goal of SER is to release the trauma from the tissue of the body in order to restore balance in the body. Releasing the emotion associated with physical pain and symptoms makes a tremendous impact on the tissue health and overall homeostasis of the body.

Osteopathic Manipulation

Osteopathic manipulation is based upon the concept that structure influences function. Thus, if there is a problem in one part of the body’s structure, function in that area, and possibly in other areas, may be affected. Another integral tenet of osteopathic medicine is the body’s innate ability to heal itself. Osteopathic manipulation techniques are aimed at reducing or eliminating the impediments to proper structure and function so the self-healing mechanism can assume its role in restoring a person to health. Osteopathic manipulation techniques performed include Muscle Energy Technique, Strain-Counter Strain, High-Velocity / Low-Amplitude, Myofascial Release, Lymphatic Pumping and Still Technique.

Meridian Mashing (aka smashing) is a system of therapy that centers on the trainer using their feet to achieve deep and dramatic changes to the body.  Trainers use their feet on almost every part of the body, creating relaxation along TCM meridians to free up energy flow, assist in removing waste products from muscles, help loosen up tight muscles, remove scar tissue, and remove trigger points, creating significant improvements in movement and decreases in distress and stress.  Concomitant improvements in physiological and psychological health can occur.  A session can be for an individuals whole body or it can center on just one particular meridian muscle group.

Endocrine Attunement

Attunement is an energy technique which results in a deep sense of relaxation and renewal.  The core technique of Attunement is a sharing of a radiant energy current through the hands of the attainment practitioner.  The practitioner uses his or her sensitivity to energetically work with the vibrational field of the client.  This assists in activating a free flow of life energy between physical and spiritual dimensions.  The endocrine system of seven ductless glands are given specific emphasis.  Balancing the energy flow through these gateways, as well as organs, body systems, and energy meridians, helps to bring health and well being on very deep and fundamental levels.

Oils may be used in coordination with manual body work techniques or diffused in the treatment room. Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a form of natural and holistic medicine used to treat physical and emotional conditions. It originated in 1796 by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. Homeopathic remedies are obtained from plants and minerals. Homeopathy is based on the principle that "like treats like". Minute dosages of the remedy are used in treatment to balance one's particular symptoms and sense of being. Homeopathy brilliantly works to strengthen one's own energy, thus relieving undesirable physical and emotional symptoms.

Crystal Healing

Crystal healing has been a part of chinese medicine for thousands of years and has been passed down from generation to generation. Using crystals in healing harnesses the energetic properties of the natural gemstones, crystals and minerals. Crystals each have their own energy and purpose. They are commonly used to help an individual to connect to oneself, feel more grounded, uplift their spirits, release negative energy, and balance the subtle energy systems of the body.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which glass cups with suction are placed on one's skin or used to massage the tissue. Cupping is extremely beneficial to reduce scar tissue, myofacial restriction, and trigger points which essentially assists in reducing pain and inflammation while enhancing blood flow, lymphathic flow, relaxation and well-being. While physical results with cupping are often easily noted, cupping works energetically to free restrictions and blockages in energy flow within the tissues and meridians of the body.

Tuning Forks

Using tuning forks and other forms of sound therapy arises from the belief that the human body is comprised of energy. It is based on the subtle energy principles and the laws of quantum physics which demonstrate that everything in the universe is made up of vibrational fields. Each aura, body, organ and cell have their own vibration. Sound therapy harnesses the resonant harmony of vibration which means that when a vibration is created through sound, that vibration will occur harmonically in the body. Tuning forks are used in working with the chakras, meridians and and extraordinary vessels.

Tapping

Tapping is a common self treatment technique that involves light percussion over various acupressure points in order to balance the body and restore freedom while eliminating negative emotion and fear. Tapping techniques are extremely helpful in removing energy blocks in one's field that contribute to their limitations. Tapping is often considered a path to emotional freedom and is commonly used as an adjunct to many forms of therapy.
