Spring Equinox - Water Becomes Wood

For many, Spring Equinox provides significant gratification! After a long, cold winter, punctuated by a series of big snow storms, we cannot wait for those first signs of Spring - tulips posing through the snow, streams flowing freely and feeling the warmth of the sunshine. Spring is a great incentive for enduring the Winter.

Spring is the season of the Wood Element. The essence of planting seeds, nurturing them and patiently watching them grow is the representation of the Wood Element. The season of spring is meant to gently transition us from our state of latency where our energy is stored in the roots into a state of new growth and development.

Very often, we have a desire to push ourselves and Spring often evokes within us the need to really "get out there and do it" whatever "it" is. Our life, however isn't a race, but rather a journey, an opportunity for us to explore our world. Imagine if instead of forcefully creating something from start to finish just to get it done, we created from our hearts, planting the seed, allowing the seed to evolve just as it's meant to, as we offer it nourishment and feed it with our creativity. Imagine if instead of releasing it abruptly, we observed with fascination as our creativity and idea manifested into a tangible form.

Spring reminds us of the choices we have. On one hand, we can go against our desires and force our way through life. On the other hand, we can visualize what we seek and make choices that allow for fruitful development.

Try these perspectives for transition as Water Becomes Wood.

  • View life as your GARDEN, take time to plant the seeds, nourish them and patiently watch them grow. Enjoy your beautiful garden of creation.

  • Liver and Gall Bladder, the organs associated with Wood lead us toward knowing what we want and making decisions. Tune into this CLARITY.

  • Be KIND to yourself, think of yourself as a tender seedling emerging into spring from the cool winter.
